Azure Adriatic waters, shimmering beaches, guaranteed sunshine, exquisite sunsets and star-lit night skies make for a fantastic festival setting where The Garden’s natural amphitheater rolls into the surrounding forest-covered hills. Tisno’s enchanting Garden Resort has enjoyed a huge surge in popularity in recent years – which might be something to do with the fact that it now plays host to a number of Croatia’s renowned festivals. During the summer months, party people in search of bliss swarm its peaceful coves and olive groves in there thousands, in pursuit of soulful sunshine and big beats. The site itself not only has a true festival feel but retains an intimacy so often missing from many modern-day music festivals. Staging everything from house superstars to disco icons and underground heroes playing all-day beach sessions, with daily boat parties all adding to a unique outdoor clubbing experience.
Tisno is more than just the sum of its parties though. Take it easy by exploring its sleepy ancient paths, stopping off to get fed and watered in one of the areas buzzing bars and restaurants and working it all off with a hike up to the hill for incredible views over the Kornati Islands. Obviously, the main draw here is the beach, so make sure to blow away the cobwebs from the night before by clocking up a few hours downtime in the sublime Adriatic. We have a few of our spent summers in Croatia and know the area very well, so we have complied a guide of what Tisno has to offer in your downtime…
Tereza Konoba – Tisno’s leading steak house. 800g slabs of beef at East European prices. An outdoor courtyard makes it a perfect location for big beery lunches. Get ready for that afternoon food coma!
Konoda Broscica – With a view overlooking the bay, Konoda Broscica has a wide menu offering everything from Dalmatian fare (meats and grill food) to Italian and even a Croatian take on the full English breakfast.
Carmen – Tisno’s top seafood restaurant – a big call in a country quietly famous for its seafood cuisine. The bay setting alone makes this place worth a visit. Not the cheapest restaurant in the town, but the top notch sharing platters and the bottles of prosecco are still a lot cheaper than any UK equivalent.
Loca Villa Tisno’s very own beach bar: complete with surfboards, a genuine on-beach location and a seemingly permanent happy hour. One of our firm favourites.
Valentino’s Pizza & Pool – A veritable mash up of ideas, Valentino’s is a cheap bar that does a roaring trade in pints and shots, an Italian-style pizzeria, a swimming pool and a life music venue rolled into one. Shoreditch would be proud.
Crni – A mostly-outdoors joint offering plenty of cheap burger-n-chips lunches, beer and particularly good coffee. Been up all night? Head here…
Croatia is a coastal nation so it’s no surprise that towns like Tisno have a wealth of water-based excursions available. From powerboat hire, trips to the Kornati islands, to sailing day trips, Tisno’s collection of local businesses cater to all things sea. Fancy staying on land? Just 15 minutes out of town lies Krka, one of Croatia’s – and East Europe’s – most famous national parks.
